How to buy gold & silver with Bitcoin and crypto
Turning crypto into real, physical metal takes about five minutes. Browse, pick your coin or bar, pay from your own wallet, and we ship it insured and discreet — no bank, no brokerage, no KYC under $50,000.
Shop bullionWhat is bullion — and why buy it with crypto?
Bullion is physical gold or silver valued by its metal content and purity rather than collectible rarity. It comes in two shapes: coins, struck by government and private mints (Britannia, Maple Leaf, Krugerrand, Philharmonic), and bars, from one gram up to a kilo. Everything we sell is certified at 99.9% purity or finer, from names the market trusts.
Gold and silver are the original self-custodied assets. A bar in your hand can't be frozen, can't be inflated away, and doesn't depend on any exchange staying solvent. Buying that metal with crypto makes the whole thing faster and more private: it's quick (no three-day bank wire), private (no KYC under $50,000), borderless (ship to 150+ countries), and it rebalances a volatile crypto position into a hard asset cleanly — crypto in, metal out, in one transaction.
Why buy physical gold and silver
Metal earns no yield and makes no promises — that's the point. It sits outside the financial system as insurance you can hold. Here's the case buyers make for owning some.
A hedge against inflation and currency debasement
Governments can print more currency; no one can print more gold. Over decades, hard metal has held its purchasing power while paper money has steadily lost it. Bullion isn't tied to any central bank's balance sheet — it's the original inflation hedge.
A genuine safe-haven asset
Gold has a low, often negative correlation to equities precisely when it matters — during market stress. It won't pay a dividend, but it has repeatedly held value in the crises when almost everything else fell.
Real diversification for a crypto-heavy portfolio
Many advisors suggest a 5–15% allocation to precious metals. Because physical metal behaves differently from both stocks and Bitcoin, it can smooth the ride — taking gains from a volatile asset and parking them in a tangible one.
You own the asset, not a claim on it
A gold ETF or “paper gold” is a promise from an institution. Physical bullion in your hands has no counterparty — nothing to freeze, dilute, or default on. It's the same self-custody principle that drew you to crypto, applied to metal.
Central banks are buying at record pace
The official sector has bought more than 1,000 tonnes of gold in three separate recent years and added hundreds more since. When the institutions that issue currency are accumulating gold, private buyers tend to take note.
Silver's rare dual demand
Silver is both a monetary metal and an industrial one — essential to solar panels, EVs and electronics — and the market has run a supply deficit for several years running. That gives it a different demand profile from gold.
And why pay with crypto specifically?
It's fast. On-chain payment settles in minutes, not the one-to-three business days an international bank wire can take — so you lock a price and move.
It's 24/7 and borderless. No banking hours, no holidays, no country restrictions. Pay from anywhere, any time, straight from your wallet.
It rebalances your gains. Take profit from a volatile crypto position and move it into a tangible, historically steadier asset — in a single transaction.
No bank in the middle. You don't need to route the purchase through a bank account. It's your wallet to our address, and the metal is yours.
General information, not financial advice. The value of gold and silver can go down as well as up.

Premiums over spot, explained
The spot price is what raw gold or silver trades for on global markets. The premium is the bit on top — and every dealer charges one, because raw metal doesn't mint, assay, insure and ship itself. Your premium covers minting and refining, authentication and certification, insurance and secure logistics, and a fair dealer margin.
Silver's premium looks bigger in percentage terms because it costs about the same to mint, box, insure and ship a 1 oz silver coin as a gold one — but those fixed costs are a far larger slice of silver's lower value. That's normal across every dealer. We publish the premium on every product page next to the live price — what you see is what you pay, with no hidden fees at checkout. Buy larger weights to bring your premium-per-ounce down.
Purity, weight and the standards that matter
Fineness & purity
Purity is measured as parts per thousand. .999 (“three nines”) is 99.9% pure; .9999 (“four nines”) is 99.99%. Gold coins range from 22-carat (.9167 — Krugerrand, Sovereign) to 24-carat (.9999 — Britannia, Maple Leaf, Philharmonic). Everything we list is 99.9% or finer.
The troy ounce
Bullion is weighed in troy ounces, not kitchen ounces. One troy ounce is 31.1035 g — about 10% heavier than the standard ounce. Bars also come by the gram: 1 g, 5 g, 10 g, 50 g, 100 g, 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg.
LBMA Good Delivery
The London Bullion Market Association sets the wholesale benchmark for bar quality and responsible sourcing. Metal from an LBMA-accredited refiner is the standard institutions trust — and it protects your resale liquidity.
Assay & authentication
Bars ship sealed in tamper-evident assay cards showing weight, purity and a unique serial number. PAMP's Veriscan technology lets you confirm a bar's microscopic surface “fingerprint” against the mint's database.
Mints & refiners you'll see in our catalogue

- The live global wholesale price of one troy ounce of metal, before any dealer premium.
- Premium
- The amount charged above spot to cover minting, refining, authentication, insurance and margin.
- Troy ounce
- The unit bullion is weighed in — 31.1035 g, about 10% heavier than a kitchen ounce.
- Fineness
- Purity as parts per thousand: .999 is “three nines” (99.9%), .9999 is “four nines” (99.99%).

- CombiBar
- A Valcambi bar scored into 1 g pieces you can snap off — bar economics with coin-like divisibility.
Tax on buying gold & silver with crypto, by country
Two patterns hold almost everywhere: investment-grade gold is usually free of VAT or sales tax while silver usually isn't, and spending crypto is usually a taxable event in its own right. Beyond that the details differ by country — here's the shape of it across the markets we ship to most.
Storing and protecting your metal
Home vs vault
At home is private and instantly accessible — keep it in a quality safe, and check whether your home insurance covers precious metals, since many policies cap the payout low and need a rider.
Allocated vault storage holds specific, serial-numbered bars and coins in your name — fully insured, audited, and ring-fenced from the vault's own creditors. Many holders keep a little at home and the bulk in a vault.
Verify on arrival
- Inspect the tamper-evident seal and match the serial number on the assay card.
- Weigh the piece on an accurate scale; check dimensions against the mint's spec.
- For PAMP bars, confirm the surface fingerprint with the Veriscan app.
- Every order is fully insured until it's safely in your hands.
Shipping & delivery
- Plain, unmarked, tamper-evident packaging.
- Fully insured end-to-end; free replacement or refund if lost/damaged.
- Tracked and signed-for; worldwide to 150+ countries.
- EU delivery typically 3–5 business days.

View all →Frequently asked questions
Do I need to verify my identity (KYC) to buy?
+
No. Orders under $50,000 require no KYC — no ID upload, no verification queue. On orders above $50,000, light verification may be required to stay compliant.
Which cryptocurrencies can I pay with?
+
Over 50, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, USDC, DAI, Monero, Litecoin, BNB, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash and TRON. Live rates are locked at checkout.
Should I pay with Bitcoin or a stablecoin?
+
Bitcoin exposes you to price movement during the short confirmation window; a stablecoin such as USDT or USDC removes that volatility entirely. If you want zero price risk between checkout and confirmation, pay with a stablecoin.
Can I pay from a cold or hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor)?
+
Yes. A valid signed transaction works the same from any wallet. Just allow a little extra time to connect and sign on your device, since your price is locked for a limited window.
How is my price locked if crypto is volatile?
+
At checkout we lock your price and hold it for a short window (typically 15–20 minutes) while your payment confirms. Prefer zero volatility? Pay with a stablecoin.
What happens if my payment confirms late or the network is congested?
+
If payment doesn't arrive within the locked window the quote simply expires and you start a new order at the current rate — you're never charged the wrong price. Paying a normal network fee (not the lowest) helps you confirm in time.
Is there a minimum or maximum order?
+
There's a modest minimum order value and generous limits above that. You can buy a single gram bar or build a substantial position — and orders under $50,000 stay KYC-free.
What premium over spot will I pay?
+
Every product shows its premium next to the live price. Larger gold bars carry the lowest premium per ounce; silver and small fractional coins carry a higher percentage because fixed minting and shipping costs are a bigger slice of a lower unit value.
Is the gold and silver real and certified?
+
Yes — investment-grade bullion at 99.9% purity or finer, from recognized mints and refiners like PAMP, Perth Mint, Heraeus, Metalor and Umicore.
How do I verify authenticity when it arrives?
+
Check the tamper-evident assay card and serial number, and weigh the piece on an accurate scale. For PAMP bars you can confirm the unique surface fingerprint with the Veriscan app. Every order is insured right up until it's in your hands.
Do you hold my crypto or private keys?
+
Never. You pay directly from your own wallet to an address shown at checkout. We are not a custodian — your keys and balance stay with you.
Should I store my metal at home or in a vault?
+
Both work. Home storage is private and immediate — use a quality safe and check whether your home insurance covers precious metals, as many policies cap it low. A third-party allocated vault adds audited security and insurance, with specific bars held legally in your name.
Do I pay tax when I buy gold or silver with crypto?
+
In most countries — including the US, UK and across the EU, Australia and Canada — spending crypto is treated as a disposal of that crypto, so any gain since you acquired it may be taxable, separate from the metal itself. A few places, such as Singapore, the UAE and Switzerland for private individuals, don't tax personal capital gains at all. Rules vary by country — this is general information, not tax advice, so check your local tax authority.
Is buying gold or silver ever tax-free?
+
It depends where you are. Investment-grade gold is VAT or GST-exempt across the EU, UK, Switzerland, Singapore, Australia and Canada, while silver is usually taxed. On capital gains, Germany is tax-free after a year, Singapore and the UAE have no capital gains tax, and UK legal-tender coins (Britannia, Sovereign) are CGT-free — but the US, Australia and Canada do tax gains on the metal. Always check your local rules.
Do I pay VAT or sales tax on silver?
+
Usually, yes. Investment-grade gold is VAT-exempt across the EU, UK and Switzerland, but silver typically isn't — expect standard VAT (often 17–27% in the EU, 20% in the UK, 8.1% in Switzerland). The US has no federal sales tax, and roughly 40+ states exempt bullion while others tax it. Paying in crypto doesn't change the treatment, and the price you see already reflects it.
How discreet is the packaging?
+
Completely. Plain, unmarked, tamper-evident boxes with zero branding. Every shipment is insured, tracked and requires a signature on delivery.
Which countries do you ship to?
+
150+ countries. EU orders typically arrive in 3–5 business days after dispatch; express options are available at checkout.
What if my package is lost or damaged?
+
Every order is fully insured. If anything is lost or damaged in transit, we send a free replacement or issue a full refund — your choice.
Can I sell my bullion back for crypto?
+
Yes. Every product is covered by our buyback guarantee, and we can pay you in Bitcoin or crypto. See our Sell Gold for Bitcoin page.
Should I buy coins or bars?
+
Bars carry the lowest premium per ounce — best for accumulation. Coins cost a little more but offer the strongest resale recognition, and UK Britannias and Sovereigns are CGT-free. Many buyers hold both.
