About this coin
The American Buffalo was the US Mint's first 24-carat gold bullion coin when it launched in 2006. It borrows James Earle Fraser's 1913 nickel design: a Native American profile on the obverse and an American bison on the reverse. Each coin holds one troy ounce of 999.9 gold and has a $50 face value.
